Tricks to make your resolutions stick
New year, new you! Three easy steps to turn your resolutions into reality ✨

Coming up with New Year’s resolutions is a great exercise to set you up for a productive 2025, but how do we turn those resolutions into reality? The pattern is all too familiar; we write down our list of goals on January 1st, then weeks tumble by, usual routines take over, and we decide to try again next year. Even though it feels inevitable, this doesn’t have to be the case. New Year’s resolutions can stick, they just need a little extra help! Here’s what you can do:
Schedule your Goals
As many wise folks say, a goal without a plan is just a wish. So let’s make a plan!
- First, grab a digital planner. We have a few free ones made for you (link to Yume Techo, link to Portrait), or you can browse The Gallery for more ideas!
- Open the calendar page. Each week, schedule 3 steps towards one of your overarching goals. For example - If your goal is to improve your grades, schedule 3 study sessions. If your goal is to exercise more, schedule three gym sessions or workout classes!
Use a Habit Tracker
Habit trackers are a great way to keep track of your progress! We have a few habit trackers in our free planner templates if you’re looking for a place to start. Write down the task you want to turn into a habit (like reading for 30 minutes), then fill in a box every time you complete it! Not only does using a habit tracker help hold you accountable, it’s also super satisfying to have a visual representation of your progress.
Tip: We recommend starting a new habit tracker page every month!

Have a Treat, You’ve Earned It!
Hard work like yours deserves to be rewarded. Once you achieve a goal, or complete a row on your habit tracker, treat yourself to something that makes you happy! This could be anything - a nice cup of coffee, a bouquet of flowers, or a cupcake from a local bakery. If you’re stuck, try rewarding yourself with something related to your goal. For example, if you visited the gym 20 times, treat yourself with a new water bottle or a fun fitness class. There’s nothing more motivating than some positive reinforcement every now and then!
You have everything you need to change your life - the power, the intellect, and the desire. Simply wanting a change is the first step! Sometimes, all you need is some structure and a little push to get the ball rolling. You can do this, and we believe in you!
